Who’s My Father?

Ralph Fiennes (1962–) is a renowned British film actor, with a long-list of film credits to his name, including The Constant Gardner, Schindler’s List, and The Grand Budapest Hotel.  He also starred in the movie

Quiz Show, which tells the story of the notorious television game-show scandals of the late 1950s. In the film, Fiennes portrayed Charles Van Doren, who was exposed for cheating to boost ratings. Director Robert Redford originally wanted to cast his longtime friend Paul Newman as Charles’s father, the poet Mark Van Doren, but Newman declined.

Redford continued delaying scenes involving the father, shooting every other scene instead, leaving Fiennes frustrated and uncertain. Eventually, Fiennes was seen wandering the set, softly asking, “Who’s my father?”
