In His Will is our Peace
One of the greatest struggles we face in this life is the temptation to compare ourselves to others. As Teddy Roosevelt famously said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” But in the final part of The Divine Comedy, Dante offers a profound antidote—contentment found in surrender to God’s will.
He tells the story of a devout woman who, now in heaven, notices that others have received greater honor and joy than she has. Someone asks, “Does this not diminish your happiness?”
Her response is both simple and deeply comforting:
“In His will is our peace.”
