Calls To Worship

Freedom

Adapted from Psalm 146

Leader: Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

People: Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever.

Leader: The Lord sets the prisoners free, opens the eyes of the blind, and lifts up those who are bowed down.

People: The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the Lord!

Leader: Let us worship God!

Adapted from Colossians 3:14-17

Leader: Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

All: Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Leader: And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

All: Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Leader: Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

All: And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Pastor:      Who are you?

Ministers: We are God’s people, called by God’s love in Jesus the Christ, not because we are adequate or worthy, but because of God’s acceptance of us.

Pastor:       Why have you come?

Ministers: To glorify and enjoy God.

Pastor:       What do you need?

Ministers:  Power to live authentic lives; freedom to be honest and open;

released to love; joy to communicate; hope to begin again; and daring to become involved in the wounds and pains and illnesses of the world.

Pastor:      These gifts we will discover in the Giver of Life. God is here as

promised. Come, let us celebrate God’s Presence and Power! Let us celebrate life in Christ and in Christ’s Spirit!
