Mike Krzyzewski

“Coach K", otherwise known as Mike Krzyzewski, is considered by some to be the greatest college basketball coach of all time. As a coach, he is mostly known for his long tenure at Duke University from 1980 to 2022. Born on February 13, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, he played college basketball at West Point under Bob Knight. After his playing career ended, Krzyzewski became an assistant coach under Knight before becoming head coach of his alma mater at the early age of 28. It was at Duke, his next position, for which he is most known.

At Duke, Coach K led the Blue Devils to five NCAA championships, 12 Final Four appearances, and became the winningest coach in NCAA Division I history. He also coached the U.S. men’s national team to three Olympic gold medals. Well-known for his leadership, integrity, and coaching prowess, Krzyzewski’s influence continues to impact the game and the greater American sports culture.
