Michael Horton
Michael Horton is a distinguished theologian, author, and professor widely recognized for his contributions to Reformed theology and his efforts to make deep theological truths accessible to the wider church. He serves as the J. Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary California, where he has shaped generations of students with his scholarly and pastoral insights. Horton is also the founder and editor-in-chief of Modern Reformation magazine and the host of the nationally syndicated radio broadcast The White Horse Inn, platforms through which he engages contemporary culture with a robust and winsome presentation of the Christian faith.
Horton has written extensively on theology, apologetics, and ecclesiology, authoring numerous books that have become key resources in theological study and Christian discipleship. His works include The Christian Faith: A Systematic Theology for Pilgrims on the Way, Christless Christianity, Core Christianity, and Ordinary: Sustainable Faith in a Radical, Restless World. Through these writings, Horton addresses topics ranging from the nature of the gospel and the church to the challenges of living faithfully in a secular age.
As a committed advocate for the centrality of the gospel in all areas of life, Horton emphasizes the importance of grounding faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ rather than cultural trends or human efforts. His teaching and writing consistently call the church back to its theological roots while encouraging believers to engage the world with grace and truth.
Horton holds a PhD from Wycliffe Hall at the University of Oxford, as well as degrees from Westminster Seminary California and Biola University. He lives in Escondido, California, with his wife and children, balancing his scholarly pursuits with a deep love for his family and a passion for equipping the church to live out its calling faithfully.
