Francis Chan
Francis Chan is a pastor, author, and speaker widely recognized for his passionate teaching and deep love for Jesus. Born in San Francisco, California, to Chinese immigrant parents, Francis experienced significant loss early in life, losing both parents by the age of 12. These hardships profoundly shaped his faith and calling to share the hope of the gospel.
Francis is the founding pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, California, which he led for over 15 years. Under his leadership, the church grew into a vibrant community committed to serving others and making disciples. In 2010, Francis stepped down to pursue a more global ministry focus, sensing a call to address spiritual complacency in the modern church. This decision led him to explore house church movements and serve the marginalized in various parts of the world.
As an author, Francis has written several bestselling books, including Crazy Love, Forgotten God, Letters to the Church, and Multiply. These works challenge readers to pursue an authentic, radical relationship with God and live lives of sacrifice, generosity, and faithfulness. His writing and teaching emphasize biblical truth, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the importance of living for eternity.
Francis is also the founder of We Are Church, a network of house churches in Northern California, and Cornerstone Community Church’s Eternity Bible College, which aims to equip students for ministry without financial burden. His ministry reflects a consistent passion for discipleship, biblical literacy, and caring for the poor and unreached.
Francis lives with his wife, Lisa, with whom he shares a deep commitment to ministry and family. Together, they have seven children and continue to inspire others to live boldly for Christ through their example of faith, humility, and love.
