In the 1800s, a group of people were exploring just outside the ancient walls of Jerusalem, near the Damascus Gate, when they came across a hole in the ground. Curious, they began to dig—and uncovered a cave. As they dug further, they discovered one of Jerusalem’s hidden underground sites: an old quarry believed to have supplied stone for Solomon’s Temple. Today, it’s known as the Quarries of Solomon, and you can still tour it.
