While not as well known as their male counterparts (The Desert Fathers), there were a number of women who also went out into the wilderness to live a life of solitude and prayer. One such woman was Saint Syncletica, a fourth-century wealthy woman from Alexandria who gave up her material wealth to become a prayer warrior for the sake of Christ and the Church.
