When we watch cartoons, it is fun to see the way we can so easily allow some of the craziest stuff to just be taken at face value. Movements that don’t follow the laws of physics? Sure. Talking animals? Why not. We call it the suspension of disbelief, and it leads to some fun stories, such as one where a talking rat can take control of the entire body of a man by simple tugs of his hair. That’s the premise of Ratatouille, a film about a gifted chef, who is surprisingly the rat, Remy, and how he controls a hapless man, Alfredo, to elevate his cooking skills.
