The other day I took a tumble. Fortunately, there were no witnesses. Now I’m walking with a limp.
If ever there was a case of falling down it was Jesus. Some were saying He was the Son of God. They even threw Him a ticker-tape parade. But five days later, down He went—from cross to tomb, from tomb to Hell (as many traditions say). People laughed and cheered to see Him fall.
This is Good Friday; the day Jesus fell down to be as it were, in the company of all fallen people—sinful, stupid, senseless and ashamed.
