What can we learn from the historical context?
In the Middle of a Greater Story
“At just the right time” is a phrase that immediately throws the reader into the middle of a story. Clearly this right time is not the beginning. God has already been at work in the world and among a people. But even if you had only known this one text, you could extrapolate something about the world before Jesus. You could at least conclude that there was a great need. We were powerless, we were ungodly, we were God’s enemies.
