What can we learn from the historical context?
A letter of friendship
Paul’s letter to the Philippians is from Paul and his companions to the saints in Philippi. It is a letter from Christians to Christians. Jesus unites them in relationship and connects them to each other, resulting in a deep relationship between Paul and the church. This 3-way relationship, with Christ in the center, is always in mind as Paul writes to these beloved ones.
