Assyria the Destroyer of the Northern Kingdom
It is important to remember that in addition to there being seventeen books of prophecy in the Old Testament, each one of these books takes their names from a prophet who was directed by God to go to a specific location to deliver their divine message.
Jonah was one of two prophets (the other being Nahum) that God sent to Assyria, a shocking destination in light of the fact that two other prophets, Hosea and Amos, were dedicated to warning Israel about the impending judgment God was sending their way at the hands of these very Assyrians!
