Hebrews is a rich tapestry of intricately woven theology that spans the Old and New Testaments. With Christ as the center, the author of Hebrews draws upon the revelation of God through the patriarchs and the prophets. While not diminishing the importance of these great figures in the grand arc of Scripture, the writer emphasizes their ultimate inability to bring about salvation for God’s people. Throughout the Epistle, we hear again and again that Jesus is greater than any prophet, king, patriarch, or poet. Even the angels testify to Jesus as the Son of God.
