Welcome to the Season of Easter
We have entered the season of living the resurrection! This is a season to celebrate. I remember listening to a lecture a few years back by the New Testament scholar N.T. Wright. As an Anglican, used to following the Christian calendar, he was all for observing Lent as a season of repentance and a reminder of our sin.
But at the same time, he noted, once Easter arrives we should be partying! Remembering that Christ has conquered death, and He has sent the promised Spirit to empower His church, we now have the joy of celebrating the new life that comes as a result of Jesus’ death and resurrection. If ever anyone had a reason to celebrate, it is Jesus’ bride, the church.
In that vein, we hope you get to celebrate the resurrection for the next forty days. Our highlighted texts come primarily from the Psalms, with two weeks towards the end in Acts. Each week speaks to the joy of being God’s beloved children, guided by the good shepherd.

A Soul Thirsty for God
It’s summertime, and here in Southern California it begins to get rather hot. And I find myself thirsty a lot. I’ll get out and cycle 20 miles and come back parched. It makes me think of these psalm lines: Like a deer that longs for springs of water, so my soul longs...
