When Jesus invites people to follow him, he doesn’t forecast the outcomes nor guarantee change overnight. He doesn’t promise that we’ll stop cussing in traffic tomorrow and never do it again, or that we’ll start being patient with our children and never lose our patience again. He doesn’t promise that the Hugh Hefners of the world will become Billy Grahams overnight. He only promises that if we follow him by doing the next right thing, day by day, month by month, year by year, he will walk with us each step of the way, blessing us so that we experience a fuller life.
