Prayers of Confession on the Mind

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace to confess our sin.  We have been selfish instead of generous; we have been proud instead of humble; we have held grudges instead of forgiving; we have proven over and over again that we cannot be good enough on our own.  We need more of You, and less of ourselves.   Gracious God, we ask for Your forgiveness and receive it with joyful hearts. Renew our minds so that we may discern what is good. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we may be Your witnesses in the world.  Comfort our hearts, that we may know that we have complete redemption by Your grace alone.  In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

Eternal and everlasting God, we confess that we often forget we are Your children. At times, we live our lives as if You don’t exist, and we fall short of being credible witnesses of Your love and grace For the times we have failed You, we ask Your forgiveness. Clear our minds and open our hearts so that we may be faithful to You in everything we say and do. We ask all this in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Merciful God, You made us in Your image, with minds to know You, hearts to love You, and wills to serve You. But our knowledge is imperfect, our love inconstant, and our obedience incomplete. We refuse to go where You lead us. We fail to grow into Your likeness. Have mercy upon us. Forgive us and free us from our sin. We ask in the gracious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, we lower our heads before you and we confess that we have too often forgotten that we are yours. Sometimes we carry on our lives as if there was no God and we fall short of being a credible witness to You. For these things we ask your forgiveness and we also ask for your strength. Give us clear minds and open hearts so we may witness to You in our world. Remind us to be who You would have us to be regardless of what we are doing or who we are with. Hold us to You and build our relationship with You and with those You have given us on earth.

Heavenly Father, Your Laws are gracious and good. But they can also reveal our darkest thoughts. We confess that we are prone to ungodly ideas, even works of the devil. Forgive us when we have cruel and deadly thoughts. Instead, keep our minds pure and focused on Jesus. May our hearts reflect the grace and love of God for our fellow men and women. Help us to consistently testify of Your goodness. We pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

O God, too often we turn to You when we have no other place to go, but your arms are always open wide.  Forgive us for using you as our last resort when you ought to be our first.  We confess that you have too often filled our minds with extraneous thoughts and plans, so let the mind of Christ fill us with new thoughts of you and of the plans you have for our lives. Forgive us for being so self-centered that our service to you is tainted by self-serving, and renew us in grace and mercy.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
