Prayers of Confession on Providence

Gracious and Almighty God, You are the One who keeps promises. In Your providence, we can place all our trust. Yet we confess we often do not trust You. We worry. We argue. We complain. We do things our way, not Your way. We profess faith in You, then we live like atheists. Forgive us, O Lord, in Your great mercy. Renew our hearts and our minds. Give us the faith to trust You in all things, and the courage to step forward in that faith. We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heavenly Father, give us hearts that wait with faith.  Build in us the assurance that you are at work and in control.  Forgive us for our impatience, our uneasiness, and our wandering desires when we do not feel that we have what we need.  Help us to see and to rejoice in the fruit that you are bearing in our own lives and in the lives of those around us—in the small things as well as the big things—and guide us to rest our concerns and anxieties in you.  We pray these things in the name of the one who shows us your peace, Christ Jesus.  Hear us as we continue our prayers in silence…

Good and gracious God, we all have fallen short of your glory. No matter how hard we strive to live for you, we end up choosing our will instead of yours, failing to live out your plan for us. Help us to see  how great your plans for us are as we silently confess our sins to you now…

Holy God, we are Your people, called by Your Name. We humble ourselves as we pray and seek Your face. God, help us to turn from our wicked ways. Please hear our cries to heaven and heal us from our sin that takes over like a disease. Forgive us for our failure to put You first, to rely on Your grace, and to trust in Your providence for our lives. May You hear our prayers of confession offered in this place so that You are forever glorified and we can live as a forgiven people. In the power of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
