Prayers of Confession on Peacemaking
Almighty God, we settle for false peace.
We see no need to rock the boat,
so we allow injustice to rule and reign.
God, give us the conviction to take on the work of peace-making.
Give us the courage, wisdom, and passion
to bring your perfect peace into our world.
May we be peacemakers,
as sons and daughters of the God of true peace.

Loving God, you are always ready to forgive our sins. We are much less eager to forgive those with whom we disagree. So often when we have something against our friends, family, or strangers, we escalate the conflict rather than working for unity. We resist your call to be ambassadors of reconciliation. We wish we could turn the other cheek, but it feels so much more satisfying to demonize the other side. Forgive us for these and all of our sins, and hear us now as we continue to confess our sins in silence…
Silent Prayer
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Gracious and loving God, in the perfection of Your creation, You desire us to live in peace and harmony with You and with others. But our sinfulness and hard-heartedness push us away from healthy relationships, and lapse us into conflict and enmity. We would rather talk about people instead of talking to people. We would rather avoid the hard work of making peace, instead of seeking healing and wholeness. Forgive us for our divisive and sinful behaviors. Heal our brokenness. Move us to seek reconciliation, And restore our hearts to Your perfect design. Amen.
