Prayers of Confession on Passion

Holy God, You call us to a passionate, all-consuming faith. Yet, so frequently, we give You half-hearted obedience or distracted, leftover moments of our time. You tell us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, but we find ourselves to be dull and dim in our love for others. You ask for our wholehearted faith, and we meet You with anxiety and fear.  Change us from the inside out. Fan into flame the desire to want more of You. We are thankful for Your unending, never-changing love for us in Your Son, Jesus Christ.  We thank You for pursuing us when we turn our backs on You.  We place ourselves at Your Feet, but ask that You keep us there as we continue on in our daily living. Be with us now; be with us tomorrow, and forevermore. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Loving, good, and kind God, you sent your Son to endure the cross so that we might know you. You desire a relationship with us, and you are interested in the condition of our hearts. Too often our hearts are devoid of passion for you. Too often we drift through our days, ignoring you. Please kindle our hearts for knowing you as we silently confess our sins to you now…

How quickly our loyalties fade, oh God. We proclaim you are our Lord, but lives do not reflect that truth. We pay you homage when it’s easy, but live our own way when we feel like it. We praise you today and forget you tomorrow. Lord, please forgive us for our tepid faith, and kindle the fires of passion within us to follow you even when it’s costly. We come to you, silently confessing our sins now.

Time of silent reflection.

Loving God, this morning we bring You our confession. Hear us, Lord. We confess we have gone astray. Shepherd us, Lord. We confess we often love You half-heartedly. Make us whole, Lord. We confess we trivialize Your sacrifice. Give us perspective, Lord. We confess we find most of our strength in ourselves. Be our strength, Lord. We confess little zeal for Your glory. Give us passion, Lord. We confess we’ve done so many things wrong. Forgive us, Lord. We confess we often don’t love You well. Love us, Lord. We ask these things in the Name of Jesus Christ, who exchanges our confession for abundant life in Him. Amen.

Gracious God, you have called us to be a unified body, working together that which you have willed for the world. In our apathy, we fail to participate in the work you have called us to do. In our division, we refuse to work with others to accomplish your will. Please give us a passion to serve you alongside one another. We confess to you these and other sins.

Time of silent reflection and confession…

Lord God, forgive us for how we have let our faith atrophy. We grow complacent, stagnant, and we fail to strive to follow you. Give us passion, give us courage, and give us motivation to excel for you in all we do. Please show us your plans for us as we confess our sins to you in silence…
