Prayers for Illumination on God’s Will

Sermon Illustrations on God's Will

Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.

Grant us ears to hear,

Eyes to see,

Wills to obey,

Hearts to love;

Then declare what You will,

Reveal what You will,

Command what You will,

Demand what You will.

Christina Rossetti, Language modernized and adapted for Corporate Worship by Stuart Strachan Jr.

Guide us, O God, by your Word, and Holy Spirit, that in your light we may see light, in your truth find freedom, and in your will discover peace; through Christ our Lord, Amen.

God our helper, by your Holy Spirit, open our minds that as the Scriptures are read and your Word is proclaimed, we may be led into your truth and taught your will, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed Lord,

who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning:

Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them,

that we may embrace and ever hold fast

the blessed hope of everlasting life,

which you have given us in our Savior, Jesus Christ,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,

now and forever. Amen.
