Adapted from Psalm 25:4-5 (NIV)

O Lord,

Show us your ways, Lord,

Teach us your paths.

Guide us in your truth and teach us,

for you are God my Savior,

and my hope is in you all day long.

Adapted from John 6:68

As I repeat these words of your disciple Peter, let us believe them in our hearts:

Lord, to whom can we go? You alone have the words of eternal life.

Help us to hear your word and put them into practice, through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Creator of all things,

true source of light and wisdom,

lofty origin of all being,

graciously let a ray of your brilliance penetrate into the darkness of our understanding and take from us the double darkness in which we have been born,

an obscurity of both sin and ignorance. Give us a sharp sense of understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally.

Grant me the talent of being exact in my explanations,

and the ability to express myself with thoroughness and charm.

Point out the beginning, direct the progress, and help in the completion;

through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
