We gather together today to remember

We gather today to remember
To hear again the story of God’s suffering
To hear the cry of our lives echoed on Jesus’ lips:
My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

We gather today to remember
That we are never alone in our suffering
That pain and death are not the end of the story
That whatever is happening in our lives, and however we feel
God does not abandon us.

Lord God, holy Father,
