The Shema

This is a translation of the first section of the Shema using passages from the English Standard Version (ESV). As an observant Jew, it is likely that Jesus prayed this prayer at least twice a day.

In modern tradition, the first line is said loudly, the second is said quietly, and the rest is said at a normal volume. You may wish to have the leader say the first line and have the congregation read the rest, or you may pray the entire prayer in unison.
