Our Father, Lord, the world is sometimes a dragon

Our Father, Lord, the world is sometimes a dragon with teeth set to devour the dreams of our children. Help our little ones go softly from our homes remembering all we taught them of your great love and expectation. They have been taught of your law, they have met your Son and touched the scars of grace-they know how much your Son paid so they might call him brother.

They have felt the flame and sweet wind of your Pentecostal breath. They have sampled the longing love born in the heart of those who know the word Father and trust the word Son as they begin the patient waiting for the Spirit to quicken their deadness with life. Come Creator and sculpt your image once again. Come Son of heaven and sit with us in Emmaus. Come Spirit and breathe Pentecost into our small religious habits so we can worship you again. Amen
