Like Pharoah, We Have Hard Hearts

Father God, we confess that our shortcomings are far more than we care to admit. Like Pharaoh, our hearts are often hardened and we don’t always look to you as the God who Saves.

Like the people of Israel, we have a tendency to take credit for providing for ourselves, when in reality every good and perfect gift comes from you. We put our trust in our own abilities to deal with earthly troubles.

When times get tough, we can even accuse you of forgetting about us and pull away from you instead of leaning in.

We let the difficulties of this life negate the amazing ways you have delivered us in the past. We admit that we need to be rescued from placing anything in our lives above our relationship to you.

Assurance of Pardon

Pastor: Hear the good news! God is patient and loving and just like he chose the people of Israel to be his own, He has also chosen each and every one of you. He knew before the beginning of time that just like the Israelites, we would need rescue. And just like He sent Moses to rescue them from slavery, he sent Jesus to rescue us from sin and death. Through Jesus’ blood, you are forgiven and redeemed!

People: Amen!
