Jesus said, “I am the light of the world

Leader: Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

People: God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

Leader: If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

People: But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 

Leader: Let us therefore confess our sins to God our Father.

Silence for self-examination.

Leader: Lord God, our heavenly Father,

People: we confess that we have failed to live in the light as Easter people, preferring instead to hide in the shadows of brokenness and sin. We ask Your forgiveness for the wrongs we have done and the works of love we have failed to do. By Christ’s resurrection victory, grant us forgiveness, life, and salvation. Amen.

Leader: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ suffered and died, and on the third day rose from the dead, so that we might have forgiveness of sins. He has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel so that believing, we may have life in his name.

People: Amen. Thanks be to God!

Leader: Alleluia! Christ is risen!

People:He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
