In this season of Advent, we celebrate

Pastor: In this season of Advent, we celebrate that Jesus has come, and that He promises to come again! When He comes, He will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Therefore, in the light of Christ let us confess our sins.     
Silence for personal confession
Jesus came to bring light and hope, 
People: but our hearts are often shrouded by darkness and despair. 
Pastor: Jesus came to bring joy and peace, 
People: but our hearts are often encased by sorrow and turmoil.
Pastor: Jesus came to bring life and love, 
People: but our hearts are often hardened by selfishness and apathy.   Forgive us and renew us, so that we may receive the fullness of Your promise, and live in Your love. Amen. 

Pastor: Sisters and brothers in Christ, the promise is true: God who created the heavens and the earth has also redeemed His creation through the life, death, resurrection, and imminent return of His Son Jesus Christ.  In His mercy, God forgives you and restores you as His dear child. He makes all things new so that you can have hope both now and for eternity.
People: Amen. From everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him. Psalm 103:17
