Pastor: God of all mercy and consolation, come to the aid of Your people, turning us from our sin to live for You alone. Give us the power of Your Holy Spirit that, attentive to Your Word, we may confess our sins, receive Your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
People: Amen.
Pastor: Let us then confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.
People: Gracious God, have mercy on us. In Your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. Strengthen us by Your Spirit so that we may live and serve You in newness of life, to the honor and glory of Your holy name; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Pastor: Rejoice in the Good News from God’s Word: Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Because of Jesus, Your sins are forgiven; there is nothing that can separate you from God.
People: Amen. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
