Calls To Worship

The World

Adapted from Psalm 9

Leader:            The Lord reigns forever, and rules the nations with fairness.

People:          The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Leader:           Sing praises to the Lord who reigns in Jerusalem;

                         Tell the world about God’s unforgettable deeds.

People:         The needy will not be ignored forever;

                       The hopes of the poor will not always be crushed.

All:                 Let us worship God!

Adapted from Psalm 65

Leader:         By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance, O God of our salvation

People:          You are the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.

Leader:           You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it;

                        You provide the people with grain, for so you have prepared it.

Adapted from Romans 12:1-2 (WEB)

Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God,

to present your bodies a living sacrifice,

holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.

Don’t be conformed to this world,

but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,

so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Adapted from John 12 and Isaiah 60

Leader: Jesus said to them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you.”

People: “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”

Leader: “If you walk in the darkness, you do not know where you are going.”

People: “For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon us and His glory will appear over us.”

Leader: “While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light.”

People: Nations shall come to our light, and kings to the brightness of our dawn.

Leader: Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

People: Then we shall see and be radiant. The sun shall no longer be our light by day, nor shall the moon give light to us by night; but the Lord will be our everlasting light, and our God will be our glory.

(Jn 12:35-36, Is 60:1-3, 5, 19, Jn 8:12, NRSVUE, adapted and pronouns changed for liturgical use)

Adapted from John 3:17 and Psalm 46:1-3

Pastor: “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (Jn 3:17, NIV)

All: His love endures forever

Pastor: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.” (Ps 46:1-3, ESV)

All: His love endures forever.

Pastor: Let us worship God.

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord; and all the families of the nations shall worship before him. For dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations. Â
