Calls To Worship

Waters

Adapted from Psalm 23

Leader: The Lord is our shepherd.

People: All our needs will be met. God provides a place and time for deep rest and restoration. God leads us beside still waters; restores our souls and leads us in right paths. We do not need to be afraid; for God is with us; now and forever.

Leader: Such faith calls for some singing!

Adapted from Psalm 77:16-20

When the waters saw you, O God,

When the waters saw you, they were afraid;

The very deep trembled. The clouds poured out water;

The skies thundered; your arrows flashed on every side.

The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;

Your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook.

Your way was through the sea, you path, through the mighty waters;

Yet your footprints were unseen. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. We praise you for your mighty, wondrous deeds!

Inspired by Psalm 29, Mark 1:11, Isaiah 43:1

 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters,

And in the temple God’s people say: Glory!

The heavens opened, the Spirit descended,

And a voice sounded: Your are my Beloved Son.

Do not fear, for the Lord has spoken:

I have called you by your name, you are mine.

In the beginning, darkness covered the deep, and God said: Let there be light.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters!

Through the words of the prophet, the Lord said: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you

The voice of the Lord is over the waters!

Do not fear, says the Lord; I am with you. I have called you by name; you are mine.

I have called you by name, you are mine.

When Jesu was baptized by John, suddenly the heavens were opened.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters!

And as Jesus was coming out of the water, the Spirit of God rested on him like a dove.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters!

And a voice said: You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters!
