Seeking God
Adapted from Psalm 34:1-8 (NRSV)
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
Look to him, and be radiant;
so your faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
Stuart Strachan Jr.
Adapted from Psalm 42
As the deer longs for flowing streams,
So my soul longs for you, oh God.
My soul thirsts for God,
For the living God.
When shall I come and behold the face of God?
My tears have been my food day and night,
While people say to me continually, “Where is your God?”
I say to God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me?”
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
My help and my God.
Adapted from Psalm 55:6-7
Leader: Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
People: Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts.
Leader: Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him,
People: and to our God for he will freely pardon.
Bud Thoreen
Adapted from Psalm 55:6-7
