Calls To Worship

Provision

Adapted from Psalm 145:13b-18

Leader: The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.

People: The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.

Leader: The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.

People: You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Leader: The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works.

People: The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Leader: Let us worship the Lord with all of our being!

Adapted from Psalm 146:5-10

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,

whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,

The sea, and everything in them—

He remains faithful forever.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed

And gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets prisoners free,

The Lord gives sight to the blind,

The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,

The Lord loves the righteous.

The Lord watches over the foreigner

And sustains the fatherless and the widow,

But he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The Lord reigns forever.

So humble us, O Lord, we pray as we gather to worship you.

Leader: The Lord sets the prisoners free, opens the eyes of the blind, and lifts up those who are bowed down. People: The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the Lord!

Leader: Let us worship God!

A Prayer From Catherine of Siena

O Holy Spirit, come into my heart;

By your power draw it to yourself, God,

And give me charity with fear.

Guard me, Christ, from every evil thought,

And so warm and enflame me again

With your most gentle love

That every suffering may seem light to me.

My holy Father and my gentle Lord,

Help me in my every need.

Christ love! Christ love!

Adapted from Psalm 121

We lift up our eyes to the mountains.

Where does our help come from?

Our help comes from the Lord,

The maker of heaven and earth.

God will not let your foot slip,

The Lord will watch over our coming and our going,

Both now and forevermore.

Psalm 121

L: I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?

C: My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

L: He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

C: The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

L: The Lord will keep you from all harm

C: He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Adapted from Psalms 65 and 68

Leader: Sing to God, sing praises to his name—his name is the Lord—be exultant before him.

People: When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us, God forgives our transgressions.

Leader: Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by the Lord’s signs. He visits the earth and waters it, the river of God is full of water; he provides the people with grain, and crowns the year with his bounty.

All: Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.
