Calls To Worship

God’s Character

Adapted from Numbers 23:19-22

Leader: God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind.

All: Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

Leader: The LORD their God is with us, and the shout of a king is among us.

All: God brings us out of slavery and is for us like the horns of the wild ox.

Adapted from Psalm 40:28-31

 Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary

And his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary

And increases the power of the weak.

Almighty God, we approach you in humility. Reveal yourself in all your glory today.

Adapted from Psalm 138

Leader: We will praise you, Lord, with all our hearts;

People: When we called, you answered us; you greatly emboldened us.

Leader: Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar.

People: Though we walk in the midst of troubles; you preserve our lives.

All: Let us worship the Lord, who saves us by the strength of his hand.

Adapted from Psalm 139:1-6,13-18

You have searched me, Lord,  and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;

you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;

you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue

you, Lord, know it completely.

You hem me in behind and before,

and you lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

too lofty for me to attain.

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,

when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts, God!

How vast is the sum of them!

Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—

when I awake, I am still with you.

Adapted from Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Come let us worship the Lord!

Adapted from 1 John 4:7-15

“Dear friends,

Let us love one another, for love comes from God.

Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God…. This is love:

Not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

“God is love.

Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” God, please help us to experience your love today so we can embody it for others as we go forth from here.
