 Adapted from Psalm 119:5-7

Oh, that my ways were steadfast

In obeying your decrees!

Then I would not be put to shame

When I consider all your commands.

We will praise you with an upright heart

As we learn your righteous laws.

Let us open our hearts to your guidance, oh God, as we worship you.

Submitted by Austin D. Hill (NIV, pronouns changed and adapted for liturgical use)

Inspired by Psalm 119

Leader: May our lips pour forth praise to the Lord, for his word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

People: We will seek God with all our heart, so that we will not stray from his commandments.

Leader: May God’s face shine upon his servants and teach us his statutes.

All: The earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord; may God accept our offerings of praise!

Adapted from John 13:33-34

Leader: “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.”

People: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

Leader: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

(NIV, adapted for liturgical use)
