Calls To Worship

Christianity

Inspired by Psalm 46

God is our safe space, our hiding place, a very present help in times of trouble.

God is our safety, we will not fear!

The mountains shake, the oceans roar, the nations rage, the world changes.

God is our safety, we will not fear!

Flowing like a river through the city, in the middle of his people, God is there.

God is with us, his power wraps us round.

Come! See our God at work: God breaks our weapons and destroys our defenses.

God is our peace, we will not fight.

All wars are coming to an end. God’s voice thungers through a world in chaos:

Be still! Know that I am God!

Through all the earth, God be praised! Through all the world, God is with us!

God is our safety, we will not fear!

Leader: Arise! Shine! Christ’s Church has assembled.

People: We are one body, with Christ as our head.

Leader: What kind of body is this?

People: The Body of Christ, brought together not by human flesh, but by the sovereign Lord.

Leader: And who does he call us to be?

People: A people who look not to their own interests, but to the interests of others. Those who proclaim the goodness of their Lord.

Leader: Come, Let us worship as one united body.

L. In Jesus Christ God has removed our sins from us and given us a new name.

P. Now we are called Forgiven.

L. In Jesus Christ God has assured us that he could never forget us.

P. Now we rejoice that we are called Remembered.

L. In Jesus Christ God has changed our perspective that we are enemies of God and grace.

P. Now we are called Friends.

L. In Jesus Christ God has written us new birth certificates.

P. And now our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

L. Let us worship our God who delights in us and rejoices over us and has given us a new name in Jesus Christ our Lord. Now we are called Christians.
