Calls To Worship

Beauty

Adapted From Psalm 50:1-6 (ESV)

Leader: “The mighty one, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

People: Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Leader: Our God comes [and] does not keep silence, before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest.

People: He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

Leader: ‘Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!’

People: The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge!”

Leader: Let us worship the Lord!

Scott Bullock (ESV, adapted for liturgical use)

Adapted from Psalm 103 (NRSVUE)

Leader: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His benefits —”

People: “As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear Him. For He knows how we were made; He remembers that we are dust. As for mortals, their days are like grass; they flourish like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.”

Leader: “But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep His covenant and remember to do His commandments.” Let us bless the Lord, with all we have within us, let us bless His holy name.

(Ps 103:1-2, 13-18, NRSVUE, adapted for liturgical use)
