Calls To Worship
Hope
Adapted from Isaiah 40:30-31
Even youth grow tired and weary,
And young men stumble and fall.
But those who hope in the Lord
Will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not be faint.
Almighty God, we place our trust in you today. Fill us with your power as we worship you so that we might be equipped to do your work.

Adapted from Psalm 25:4-5
Show us your ways, O Lord.
Teach us your paths
Guide us in your truth,
And teach us.
For you are God, our Savior,
And our hope is in you all day long.

Adapted from Psalm 65
Leader: By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance, O God of our salvation
People: You are the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.
Leader: You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it;
You provide the people with grain, for so you have prepared it.

People: The meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
The valleys deck themselves with grain,
They shout and sing together for joy!
All: Let us worship God!

Adapted from Psalm 142
Leader: With my voice I cry to You, Lord; I pour out my complaint; I tell my trouble before You.
People: When my spirit is faint, I cry to You, Lord; for You are my refuge. Give heed to my cry, so that I may praise Your name. I lay before You my sin, my hope, my failing and my ambition, and I lift to You my heart for guidance and cleansing.
Let us exalt You, O God and King; we will praise Your name.
People: Every day we will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever.
Adapted from Psalm 146
Leader: Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
People: Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever.
Leader: The Lord sets the prisoners free, opens the eyes of the blind, and lifts up those who are bowed down. People: The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the Lord!
Leader: Let us worship God!
Adapted from Psalm 146:5-10
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
The sea, and everything in them—
He remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
And gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
The Lord gives sight to the blind,
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
And sustains the fatherless and the widow,
But he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
The Lord reigns forever.
So humble us, O Lord, we pray as we gather to worship you.

Adapted from Isaiah 40:28-31
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary.
And his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
So let us praise God together today.

Adapted from Jeremiah 29:7,11
Seek the welfare of this city.
Pray to the Lord on its behalf
For in its welfare, you will find your welfare.
For I know the plans I have for you;
Plans not to harm you, but to give you a future and a hope.
In your plan, O God, you have sent us here. Please help us to seek the welfare of those around us. Equip us to that end as we worship you today.

Adapted from Matthew 12:18-21
Pastor: “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased.
All: I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
Pastor: He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets; a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory;
All: and in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

Adapted from Ephesians 4:3-6
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
There is only one body and one Spirit,
Just as you were called to one hope when you were called;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism;
One God and father of us all,
Who is over all, and in all, and through.
