Calls To Worship

Cry

Adapted from Psalm 30:2, 4-5

Leader: O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.

People: Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.

Leader: For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.

People: Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Dustin Ray

Adapted from Psalm 61:1-4

Leader:            O God, listen to our cry!  Hear our prayers!.

People:           From the ends of the earth, we cry to you for help when our hearts are overwhelmed.

Leader:            Lead us to the towering rock of safety, for you are our safe refuge.

People:           Let us live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!

All:                  Let us worship God!

Adapted from Psalm 130

Leader: Out of the depths we cry to you, Lord;
People: Lord, hear our voices , Let your ears be attentive to our cries for mercy.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Leader: Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

People: we will wait for the Lord, with our whole being we will wait,
and in his word we put our hope.
Leader: We wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

People: For with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Adapted from Psalm 142

Leader: With my voice I cry to You, Lord; I pour out my complaint; I tell my trouble before You.

People: When my spirit faints within me, I cry to You, Lord; for You are my refuge. Attend to my cry, so that I may praise Your name.

I lay before You my sin, my hope, my failing and my ambition, and I lift to You my heart for guidance and cleansing.

Leader: Let us exalt You, O God and King; we will praise Your name.

People:  Every day we will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever

God who hears our cries and is moved by our suffering,

Speak to us a word of comfort, challenge, co-mission.

Capture our attention and call us out of our routines,

That we might catch a vision of your deliverance,

finding our place in the movement of God’s justice

Be in our worship, Lord

Quiet our resistance,

Orient us to action,

And in all things, root us in your love.
