Live Your Love

A Liturgy for World Communion Sunday

Holy Trinity, Community of Love,
Draw your children together
Across human boundaries
Across denominations
Draw us together in your creative light
Awaken us to collaboration and mutual callings
Quick to celebrate, serve, and share
Quick to live your love
Make us joyful in the ways you gift each of us
Quick to celebrate, serve, and share
Quick to live your love
Open us to unexpected invitations in unexpected places
Quick to celebrate, serve, and share
Quick to live your love
Holy Trinity, Community of Love,
Draw your children together
To honor each other
To uplift our community
To live your steadfast love
Amen.

Make Us Your Children

An Opening Prayer for World Communion Sunday

Heavenly One,
Your reach extends to every person, every nation,
offering grace, forgiveness, and hope.
A saving embrace drawing us to you and each other.
Make us your children:
grateful for a place at your feast,
humble before your love and generosity,
rejoicing in the beauty of each sibling.
Make us your children:
faithful in honoring and welcoming all,
eager in sharing what we have found in you-
safety, belonging, identity,
a home of nurture and sending forth.
Amen.

Standing Together

A Prayer of Confession for World Communion Sunday

CONFESSION:
God of the Nations
We stand apart from you
We stand apart from each other
We stand with our tribe
Hiding behind walls
Throwing our stones
Our divisions dishonor you
We harm instead of heal
You weep
Offer your own prayers of confession during this moment of silence
PARDON:
Nothing can stand against You
Nothing
No sin, no death
No prejudice, no division
Nothing can stand against our God
You’re making us whole and holy in your mercy and grace
Standing together in truth and grace
Standing together in power and love
Standing together in unrelenting hope
You’re making us one as you are One
Amen.
