Something to Hold — A Spiritual Practice

Introduction

TPW is committed to the spiritual well-being of pastors. That is why we committed to sharing a new spiritual practice each quarter from a certified spiritual director—something to offer you an opportunity to step back from your ministry (even just briefly) and reconnect with our savior. And we want these to be free to you—not behind a paywall.

Last time, we offered a Digital Silent Retreat. If you haven't checked it out, please do.

While retreats are powerful and important, they aren't always feasible. During the summer months, even if you have time away from your ministry, you need to spend that time with your family—maybe on a trip, maybe on a stay-cation. And in the coming fall months, things are likely to get very busy indeed.

That's what makes this quarter's practice from Rev. Michelle Olson so great. "Something to Hold, to Remind You Who is Holding You," is designed specifically to help you process your experiences in our ever-distracted, outrage-filled world. This spiritual practice aims to remind you that that no matter how bad things may seem, God is with us (including you), protecting and providing for us.

It’s a practice that could be done throughout the workweek, on the weekend, or even on vacation. It's meant to be a short, but powerful reminder that our lives are in God’s hands, no matter what the headlines or our communities or even our own inner voices might tell us.
