Veterans Day offers churches an opportunity to honor men and women in your community who have served in the military. This pastorally sensitive Prayer for Veterans acknowledges the full spectrum of military service—honoring those who served, supporting struggling veterans dealing with trauma and health issues, and comforting military families who've lost loved ones.

This prayer invites congregational participation by providing space at the beginning for members to speak the names of veterans they know. Lisa met her husband, Ed, during a memorable trip to New York City, and the two were married just ten months later. Together, they have built a loving family that includes two grown daughters, two sons-in-love, a brilliant grandchild, and two cherished dogs.
