Prayers of Invocation on Peace

Eternal Light, who has folded back the curtain of darkness and caused the dawn of a new day to brighten the earth, we ask you to gladden our hearts with your light. Give us the light of faith, that doubts may be dispelled like the mists of the morning; give us the radiance of hope, that we may reach forward to possess virtues we have admired from afar; give us the illumination of love, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name. We offer our prayer in the name of him who is the Light of the world. Amen.

Almighty and Everlasting God, whom the heaven of heavens cannot contain, much less the temples which our hands have built, but who are ever near to those who are humble and contrite; grant to us your Holy Spirit, we ask you, to us who have gathered; that cleansed and illumined by your grace, we may worthily show forth your praise, meekly learn your word, render due thanks for your mercies, and obtain a gracious answer to our prayers; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
