Prayers of Confession on Priorities

Loving and grace-filled God, we confess that it is difficult to keep you first in our lives. There are so many urgent demands on us that we find it hard to focus ourselves on you. The culture around us sends so many mixed messages that it is hard to listen to your still small voice. We get distracted and find ourselves further and further from the abundant life you want to give us. Forgive us, O God, for these and all of our sins, as we confess in silence…

Silent Prayer

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord, you have called us to pray about all things. And yet sometimes we fail to ask for miracles of healing. Forgive us, Lord, for not prioritizing prayer and for our lack of faith. Remind us that Scripture is full of examples of supernatural healing mercies extended to us and to those we love. We have not because we ask not. Allow us to trust you more completely. May we pray daily in confidence and expect miracles from you. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we often place value in things that are important, but which may not be fully reflective of your desires.  We admit that we settle for things that seem good, but don’t always follow them into the deeper goodness that you seek to reveal.  Help us to take stock of all of our gifts and to see how you would have us use them.  We pray these things in the name of Jesus, your greatest gift, and we ask that you receive our continued confession in silence…

Almighty God, your greatness is unfathomable. Your majesty is unending. And yet we place so many other lesser things in front of you. You are Lord of our lives, but we try to rebel against you, desiring to rule our own lives. Please give us the same humility that your Son had during the week of his passion as we silently confess our sins to you now…

Holy God, we are Your people, called by Your Name. We humble ourselves as we pray and seek Your face. God, help us to turn from our wicked ways. Please hear our cries to heaven and heal us from our sin that takes over like a disease. Forgive us for our failure to put You first, to rely on Your grace, and to trust in Your providence for our lives. May You hear our prayers of confession offered in this place so that You are forever glorified and we can live as a forgiven people. In the power of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Loving God, please forgive us of the times when we don’t make it our number one priority to follow you. For the times when we focus too much on things that distract us from you, we repent. We are sorry for seeking popularity, success, fame, or fun instead of you. Please remind us why knowing is most important as silently confess our sins to you now…

It’s too easy for us, God to place other things before you. We fail to completely follow your will, we live for ourselves, and we settle into sinful ways of life. Please help us to see that there’s more to life than living for ourselves. Please give us the courage to make you number one as we come to you in silent confession of our sins…

Repent and Return, a prayer of confession

Based on Joel 2:1-2, 12-17

ONE VOICE: Joel 2:13

Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and merciful

ALL:

We drift away from our true home

We forget we are Your beloved

We forget we are not God

Rend our hearts, O God, as we repent and return

ONE VOICE: Joel 2:13

Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and merciful

ALL:

We succumb to the temptations of money, sex, and power

We ignore the cries of our sisters and brothers

We focus only on ourselves

Rend our hearts, O God, as we repent and return

Time of silent confession

ONE VOICE:

Remember who you truly are

Let God be God in your life

Begin again with God

ALL:

No despair, for there is mercy

No fear, for there is grace

We return with all our heart

Lead us home, Lord

Lead us home
