Prayers of Confession on God

Almighty God, there is no one else like You. You are always true, as are your promises. You listen to us patiently with the compassion of a good Father. You also answer us with perfect wisdom. You brought us eternal salvation when no one else could. We confess that we sometimes neglect prayer and time with You. We also admit that we fail to follow through Your commandments. Yet, You call us to repentance and in You we find the abundance of life. Forgive us, Lord, for our failures and our lack of trust, and grant us the precious gift of Your loving grace. In the name of Jesus, our Savior we pray. Amen.

(Prayer of Adoration)

We praise you, Lord for you are

all-wise and all-powerful,

faithful, loving and gracious,

holy, just, merciful, constant and pure,

omnipresent, intimate and immortal.

You are bigger than the known universe,

yet you know us each by name

and as close as our very breath.

You know all about us and still love us.

That’s why we praise you – that’s why we serve you.

 (Prayer of Confession)

Yet – if we drop our masks and get real,

we admit we don’t praise you as you deserve,

nor do we serve you faithfully.

Forgive us – and hear our prayer of confession,

Amen.

Almighty, gracious God, we confess to you that we do not see what you see. You are ever-present, speaking, coaxing, prodding, leading, guiding, and motivating. Yet that is not enough. Like the stubborn people of Israel, we complain and do things our own way. Please give us grace, forgive us for our pride, and help us to see with your vision.

Shepherd God, forgive us for going astray, again and again and again. You seek us out, always looking for us no matter where we are and no matter what we have done. Sometimes we take you for granted and forget to say thank you.” Other times we are fully embraced by your love but don’t reality it could possibly be true.   Forgive us, O God, for these and all of our sins, as we confess in silence…

Silent Prayer

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Loving Father, we often come to you to get the most from you.  You remain incredibly generous, yet we have neglected the greatest gift you give – yourself. Forgive us for ignoring you. Help us to enjoy both your presence and your generosity, most significantly your abundant love for us.  May we encourage others to also know your great love for them.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we often forget Who it is that we worship. You, Lord, are the great God Almighty and our Heavenly Father. Yet, at times, we deny that truth by living in fear and responding negatively to our circumstances.  For these transgressions we ask Your forgiveness and we also ask for Your strength. Remind us to be who You would have us to be regardless of our situations or our emotions. Give us eyes to see You as You really are so we might be bold witnesses in our world. We ask this humbly in Christ’s name.  Amen.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we often take stock of your work and your goodness based on what we have and see in a particular moment.  We follow the desires and encouragements of crowds rather than waiting on you.  We are oblivious to your mercy amidst the needs that we feel.  Forgive our lack of faith, and encourage us by your Holy Spirit to focus on Jesus, who provides and perfects our faith.  We pray these things in his name, and we ask that you hear these things that we confess in silence…

Almighty God, your greatness is unfathomable. Your majesty is unending. And yet we place so many other lesser things in front of you. You are Lord of our lives, but we try to rebel against you, desiring to rule our own lives. Please give us the same humility that your Son had during the week of his passion as we silently confess our sins to you now…

Holy God, You are the anchor amidst our fears. You know the sins we can’t even admit to ourselves. You show your faithfulness even when we reject You. You offer grace even when we offer judgment.   Forgive us, God. Help us overcome our fears. Help us face all of our sins. Help us to be faithful. Help us to be full of grace. Remind us that we are a people of redemption, not a people imprisoned by our sins. And help us to live as people of hope, shaped by Your forgiving love. Amen.

O Holy One, we call to you and name you as eternal, ever-present, and boundless in love. Yet there are times, O God, when we fail to recognize you in the dailyness of our lives. Sometimes shame clenches tightly around our hearts, and we hide our true feelings. Sometimes fear makes us small, and we miss the chance to speak from our strength. Sometimes doubt invades our hopefulness, and we degrade our own wisdom.

Holy God, in the daily round from sunrise to sunset, remind us again of your holy presence hovering near us and in us. Free us from shame and self-doubt. Help us to see you in the moment-by-moment possibilities to live honestly, to act courageously, and to speak from our wisdom.
