Calls To Worship

Trust

Adapted from Psalm 9:1-2, 9-10

Leader: I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.

All: I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

Leader: The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

All: And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Adapted from Psalm 20:6-7 (ESV)

Now I know this:

“that the Lord saves his anointed;

he will answer him from his holy heaven

with the saving might of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,

but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

God, we proclaim our faith in you as we worship you today.

Adapted by Austin D. Hill (ESV)

Adapted from Psalm 40

I waited patiently for the Lord.

He turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.

He set my feet on a rock and gave my feet a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth,

A hymn of praise to our God.

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

Let us worship his name.

Austin D. Hill

Adapted from Psalms 125, 128

Those who trust in the Lord

Are like Mount Zion

Which cannot be moved,

But abides forever.

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,

Who walks in God’s ways.

Lord almighty, help us to trust in you today.

Adapted from Psalm 62:5-12

Leader: For God alone our souls wait in silence, for our hope is in him.

People: He alone is our rock and our salvation, our fortress; we shall not be shaken. On God rests our deliverance and our honor; our mighty rock, our refuge is in God.

Leader: Trust in him at all times, O People; pour out your hearts before him; God is a refuge for us. Let us worship the One to whom belongs power and steadfast love.

Adapted from Proverbs 3:5-6

Leader: God says, “Trust in Me with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”

People: If in all our ways we acknowledge You, Lord, You will make our paths straight. We are not to be wise in your own eyes; but rather hold You in awe and respect, and turn away from evil.

Leader: If we do it will be a healing for our flesh and a refreshment for our bodies. That is what the word of the Lord says. Let us worship God.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

And lean not on your own understanding.

In all your ways submit to him

And he will make your paths straight.

We submit ourselves to you as you have gathered us in worship, O God. Please help us to develop our trust in you. Let your will be our will.

Adapted from Proverbs 3:5-18

Leader:            Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

People:           Let us seek God’s will in all we do, and God will show us the paths to take.

Leader:            Everyone who finds wisdom is joyful!  Happy are those who gain understanding.

People:           Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her;

Happy are those who hold her tightly.

All:                  Let us worship God!

Adapted from Jeremiah 17:5, 7, 12-13

Pastor: Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.

All: Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.

Pastor: A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.

All: O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame; those who turn away from you shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living water.

Adapted from Matthew 6:25-34 (WEB)

Jesus says, “Therefore I tell you,

Do not be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

See the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns.

Your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you of much more value than they?

Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.”

We surrender our worries for tomorrow to you as we worship you today.

Adapted from Hebrews 11:8

By faith Abraham,

When called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance,

Obeyed and went,

Even though he did not know where he was going.

Loving God, give us this same faith as we gather to worship you today.

Adapted from Psalm 25:1-5

Leader: In you, Lord our God, we put our trust.

People: We trust in you; do not let us be put to shame, nor let our enemies triumph over us.

Leader: No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show us your ways, Lord, teach us your paths.

People: Guide us in your truth and teach us, for you are God our Savior, and our hope is in you all day long.

Adapted from Psalm 146

Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—
he remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,

the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,

but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The Lord reigns forever,

your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord.

Adapted from Psalm 31:14-16

Leader: We trust in you, O Lord.

People: We say, you are our God.

Leader: Our times are in your hand.

People: Deliver us from the hands of our enemies and our persecutors.

Leader: Let your face shine upon your servants.

People: Save us in your steadfast love.

ONE:

Joseph is silent

He listens and acts

ALL:

Lord, help us listen

Still the noise around us and in us

Still the urgency and anxiety

Still the destruction and falsehood

Break through with your still, small voice

with your calm and clarity

with your leading and light

You reveal the needed next steps

You provide all we need to make the journey

Lord, help us listen and help us act

Amen
