Calls To Worship

Singing

Adapted from Psalm 95

Leader: O come, let us sing to the Lord;

let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

People: Let us come into His presence with  thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with   songs of praise!

Leader: For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

People: In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for He made it, and the dry land, which His hands have formed.

Leader: O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

People: For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

Leader: So let us praise our Lord and God.

Adapted from Psalm 96:1-2

Sing to the LORD a new song;

sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Sing to the LORD, praise his name;

proclaim his salvation day after day.

Adapted from Psalm 98

Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song,

for He has done marvelous things.

People: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;

 break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

Leader: Sing praises to the Lord!

People: Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,

 with the lyre and the sound of melody.

Leader: Sing praises to the Lord!

People: With trumpets and the sound of the horn

make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.   “`

Leader: Now let all who have breath, sing praises to our Lord!

Adapted from Psalm 98:1-6

Sing a new song to the Lord,

who has worked wonders,

whose right hand and holy arm have brought salvation.

The Lord has made known salvation;

has shown justice to the nations;

has remembered truth and love for the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth have seen

the salvation of our God.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth,

sing out your joy.

Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp,

with the sound of music.

With trumpets and the sound of the horn

acclaim the King, the Lord.

Praise the Lord, my soul!

Lord, our God, you are very great!

You are clothed with splendor and majesty.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

We will sing to the Lord, all our lives,

We will sing praise to God as long as we shall live. God of glory, we praise you today.

People: Pentecost – a day of hope and inspiration.

Leader: A day when the Holy Spirit was revealed in flaming glory

People: and the glory was given to the people.

Leader: The fire of the Holy Spirit lives on in us.

Adapted from Psalm 46

Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

People: For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Leader: Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of the nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.

All: Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Psalm 30:1-5, New Living Translation

Leader: I will exalt you, Lord, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.

People: O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.

Leader: You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

People: Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name.

Leader: For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime!

People: Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Inspired by Psalm 32:11

Leader: Come into my presence with singing; come to me with shouts of praise!

All: We are glad to worship You, O Lord! We rejoice with songs of praise.

Leader: Come to me, all people. Come to me, find refuge, sing praise, and have your hearts renewed!

All: We shout for joy, O God! We shout Your praise because You have been good to us!

Adapted from Psalm 107

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;

    for his steadfast love endures forever.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,

    those he redeemed from trouble

and gathered in from the lands,

    from the east and from the west,

    from the north and from the south.

Some were sick through their sinful ways,

    and because of their iniquities endured affliction;

they loathed any kind of food,

    and they drew near to the gates of death.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,

    and he saved them from their distress;

he sent out his word and healed them,

    and delivered them from destruction.

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,

    for his wonderful works to humankind.

And let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices,

    and tell of his deeds with songs of joy.

Psalm 105:1-7 (NIV)

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;

make known among the nations what he has done.

Sing to him, sing praise to him;

tell of all his wonderful acts.

Glory in his holy name;

let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

Look to the Lord and his strength;

seek his face always.

Remember the wonders he has done,

his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,

you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,

his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.

He is the Lord our God;

his judgments are in all the earth.
