Calls To Worship

Patience

Adapted from Psalm 27

Leader:            The Lord is our light and our salvation—

                        So why should we be afraid?

People:           The Lord is our fortress, protecting us from danger,

                        So why should we tremble?

Leader:            The one thing we ask of the Lord is to live in the house of the Lord

                        all the days of our lives.

People:           Wait patiently for the Lord.  Be brave and courageous.

                        Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

All:                  Let us worship God!

Adapted from Psalm 40

I waited patiently for the Lord.

He turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.

He set my feet on a rock and gave my feet a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth,

A hymn of praise to our God.

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

Let us worship his name.

Adapted from Lamentations 3:22-23

Leader:            The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

                          God’s mercies never come to an end.

People:           They are new every morning;

                        Great is your faithfulness, O God.

Leader:             The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

                          To the souls that seek God.

People:           It is good that we should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

All:                  Let us worship God!

Adapted from James 1:19, Ephesians 4:29, Proverbs 18:21, Psalm 19:14

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this:

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,

but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

May these words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing in your sight, LORD, our Rock and our Redeemer.
