Pastor: I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

All: My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad.

Pastor: Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!

All: I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.

Pastor: Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!

All: Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Leader: What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?

People: I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.
Leader: I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.

People: I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.
Leader: I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the house of the Lord.

People: Come, Let us Worship the Lord!

Welcome to you who call upon the name of Christ.

We gather tonight to recall the story

of the night Jesus was betrayed.

Are you prepared

to come to the feast of Jesus, the Christ,

whose life was poured out for you?

By the grace of God, we are.

Are you able to watch with Jesus

at prayer in the garden —

indeed, to struggle yourselves to be in unity

with God’s will for you?

By the grace of God, we are.

Then let us praise God, even in this hour of darkness!

God of all grace and steadfast love,

greatly is your name to be praised in all the earth. 

Bring us to this feast of remembrance

with open hearts!

A table is set before us. A feast is prepared for us.
A meal of bread and wine, of meat and bitter herbs.
The Lord calls us to this supper of remembrance.
The Lord calls us to serve and to be served.
As we break the bread and share the cup,
our understanding may fail us.
But we will never forget Christ’s example.
We will never forget the full extent of his love.
